Grace Channon (1873)

Resting upright in approximately 180 feet of water off Oak Creek, Wisconsin, the Grace A. Channon is one of Lake Michigan’s most impressive deep wooden schooner wrecks. Lost in 1877 and discovered in 1985, the wreck remains remarkably intact, with standing hull structure, open cargo holds, rigging components, and sections of cabin still visible. The collision damage that sank the vessel can still be seen along the hull, where coal from the schooner’s final cargo spills onto the sandy lakebed, creating a striking and memorable technical dive site.

E.M.B.A. (1903)

The St. Albans rests upright in about 165 feet of water off Milwaukee, offering a stunning deep wooden wreck with exceptional visibility. Its intact bow and stern, exposed boilers, and scattered midship debris create a dramatic layout to explore, with features such as the rudder, propeller, and fallen smokestack still visible. For properly trained divers, limited penetration is possible, though the wreck’s true impact comes from its scale, preservation, and striking exterior.
