St. Albans (1868)
The St. Albans rests upright in about 165 feet of water off Milwaukee, offering a stunning deep wooden wreck with exceptional visibility. Its intact bow and stern, exposed boilers, and scattered midship debris create a dramatic layout to explore, with features such as the rudder, propeller, and fallen smokestack still visible. For properly trained divers, limited penetration is possible, though the wreck’s true impact comes from its scale, preservation, and striking exterior.
- Dive Type: Technical (decompression)
- Typical Depth: 150 to 165ft (45.7 to 50.3m)
- Required Certification: Technical certification with appropriate training for decompression dives
Excellent for entry level technical divers. Often paired with Grace Channon, E.M.B.A or nearby recreational wrecks Milwaukee Car Ferry, Prins Willem V, or Gillen Tug.
Prins Willem V (1948)
One of Milwaukee’s most popular wreck dives, the Prins Willem V is a largely intact freighter resting on its side in 55 to 90 feet of water. Shallow, accessible, and full of character from bow to stern, it offers an engaging and highly photogenic dive for all experience levels.
- Dive Type: Recreational (no decompression)
- Typical Depth: 55 to 90ft (16.7 to 27.4m)
- Required Certification: Open Water (or equivalent)
Excellent for beginner divers. Often dived as a two-tank trip or paired with Gillen Tug, Dredge #6, Norlond, Milwaukee Car Ferry, or other nearby shipwrecks.
