Spots on trips are limited due to the six-diver capacity, so early planning is recommended during the busy summer months.

Built for Divers

Built on a 28 ft aluminum Marinette hull, Molly V is configured as a six-pack charter with a diver-friendly layout designed for efficient gearing up, safe entries and exits, and comfortable surface intervals. Trips typically depart from Milwaukee, with occasional departures from other Wisconsin ports depending on the dive destination.

Molly V was outfitted with scuba diving operations in mind. The layout prioritizes practical space for divers and equipment while maintaining a comfortable environment between dives. These features allow the boat to comfortably support everything from shallow recreational dives to deeper wreck explorations.

Key features include:

  • Large working deck for gearing up and equipment staging
  • Enclosed cabin providing protection from wind and weather
  • Seating area for gearing up before dives
  • Sun shade for warm summer days
  • Walk-through transom and ladder for easy water exits while wearing fins

Recreational and Technical Diving Support

Shipwreck Explorers LLC charters regularly host both recreational and technical divers. The Molly V is equipped to accommodate a wide variety of dive configurations commonly used on Great Lakes wreck dives.

Divers aboard Molly V may include:

  • Recreational divers exploring mid-depth shipwrecks
  • Technical divers conducting decompression dives
  • CCR divers
  • Open-circuit divers
  • Doubles and sidemount configurations

The vessel carries onboard oxygen, with additional oxygen available for in-water use during technical dives when needed. A Carolina rig system is also used to help reduce boat movement around the downline, making decompression stops more comfortable in surface conditions.

A Charter Built Around Great Lakes Diving

Shipwreck Explorers LLC focuses specifically on shipwreck diving along the Wisconsin coastline. Trips are planned with the unique conditions of Lake Michigan in mind, including cold water, offshore wreck sites, and the logistics required to safely access them. The Molly V is operated by a 100-ton USCG-licensed captain with extensive experience running dive charters on Lake Michigan.

Visiting divers traveling from outside the Milwaukee area may also receive assistance coordinating rental equipment, dive logistics, and local recommendations.
